It was in 2016 when we last visited Dan Ogden, director of D&B Electrical. He’d just moved from the garage at home to his first office space to manage a growing list of small domestic projects.
With simPRO in place, Dan was readying the business to begin going after bigger projects.
2 years on, we’ve dropped in to see Dan again. He’s now moved into an even bigger office and is handling those much larger projects, with continued growth in his sights for 2019.
For most trade businesses there’s normally one recurring issue, an issue that can no longer be ignored, that prompts the leap from paper & spreadsheets to business management software. It’s usually either financial, operational or procedural.
For King & Martin, the issue of missing parts needed to be addressed as a matter of urgency. Losing parts meant losing money, however once they saw that simPRO could assign parts directly to a job and that price files from suppliers would be accurate and up to date - the clouds began to part.
Synergy Fire and Security are an electronics Fire & Security company founded in 2008 by Steve Trassari and Gerard Ashelford. We interviewed the 2 directors along with Business Manager Emma Higgins, who has been with the company since the beginning, playing an active role in integrating simPRO into the business.
Independent Locksmiths & Security was started in 1971 by Michael McGovern in the traditional man-in-a-van style, with partner Stephanie taking care of customer calls and invoicing at home.
Today however, the family-run organisation employs 64 staff and is leading the security industry through their development of several brands under the one roof - bringing state of the art technology to the security trade in Australia.
This is their story.
In 1946, George Bunning opened a white goods store. To this day, the business is still in the family. GB Teat has a team of 32 staff and remains competitive thanks to accurate data and definitive processes.
Brien Electrical are based near Wellington in Paraparaumu. It’s a beautiful part of the world where Mark & Monique Brosnahan have been building their business for over 30 years.
Right from the outset, Mark was determined to be his own boss. In fact his sole aim, as an electrician, was to open his own electrical business and build it to be the best.
Mark hadn’t even completed his apprenticeship when he and Monique bought their electrical business - which was initially comprised of only 3 staff members. Today, Brien Electrical employs a total of 33 people - a fantastic example of this business’ evolution over the last 30 years.
Craig Bowie began his plumbing career back in 2005. To launch their journey into entrepreneurship Craig and wife Sarah bought an existing business in August of 2013. Now, with a Business of the Year award to their name and a team of 36 they’ve found a recipe for success that allows the venture to run itself when they need it to.
Chris Peebles Electrical specialises in the servicing and installation of commercial food equipment. With simPRO now in place, owner Andrew Stefferts’ scheduling woes are a thing of the past. As a result, the business has gained a 25% increase in output and Andrew couldn’t be happier.
Founded by Paul Sansbury, in 1994, Armitage Group oversees 5 divisions of various electrical engineering operations, and uses simPRO to manage them all with a single system.
We previously met John not long after he’d implemented simPRO. His focus back then was to build a strong team culture to keep the momentum of his electrical business running at a steady pace.
Well...job done!
