HPAC move to the cloud with simPRO Enterprise
Heat Pump Energy Centre operates from Christchurch and have been in business for more than 25 years. We speak to Rachel about simPRO Enterprise and the family owned business which constitutes 35 full time employees and ten sub contractors.
In their industry, time and material tracking is essential for monitoring costs, ensuring invoices are submitted and checking profitability for each job as they are processed.
Rachel explains that they were using a job management system prior to Enterprise, however the system had become redundant and exorbitant on their resources. The benefits of cloud computing was also a major factor for upgrading.
"We were worried about what would happen in an earthquake given our whole data is on a server based in the building."
In choosing Enterprise, HPAC needed a job management system that could cost jobs and manage stock in one platform.
"We didn't want to have stock as a stand alone system and have not only that but another financial accounting package that we would have to integrate all three."
Rachel lists one of the key improvements in the business' operations as being scheduling.
"The scheduling module in simPRO is fantastic. You can drop resources, move them around at the click of a button and everyone in the office knows where everyone is, doing what job, when."
HPAC also use simTRAC vehicle tracking to track their fleet in the field. Rachel says the benefits have been exceptional.
"It just makes a whole lot of sense to see where everyone is at any one time and it lets our clients know what's happening as well."
Being an accountant, Rachel understands the necessity of a smooth process when dealing with invoices and the business costs. simPRO Enterprise integrates with Xero, HPAC's accounting package, to remove any extra handling of data.
"The accounting side of things is really seamless. All the overheads go into Xero and I can be anywhere and tell the Directors what they need to hear."
HPAC use the Client Portal which allows clients to login to a project to monitor it's progress. Having this feature has won HPAC contracts that they may have otherwise lost.
"We recently won a major service contract in Christchurch and that was because of the Client Portal. They wanted that transparency where they could go in and just get information straight out of the client portal and then of course their project manager wanted to have control of putting through jobs and looking at what stage jobs are at and so, they just found it fantastic and it pretty much won the job for us."
