Clarksons Electrical is a family owned company based in Albany, New Zealand, now managed by 2nd generation David Clarkson.
Five years ago, David set his sights on growing Clarksons nationally – and that he’s done. In the five years David has been in the General Manager’s chair, the company’s opened five offices across the country and grown to more than a hundred staff.

With so many staff spread far and wide, the introduction of simPRO has brought some very welcome changes in improved communication and efficiencies for the company. As Clarksons Electrical manages projects worth anywhere between $20,000 and $20 million, simPRO has played an essential role in managing margins.
Carving a niche
Clarksons Electrical has found themselves in the explosive atmospheres niche. By satisfying some rigorous compliance requirements, they have also acquired work in facilities management and maintenance.
Using tablets to expand into new regions
To expand its presence in the country, Clarksons has relied on the mobility and flexibility of an iPad to negate the need for an office. As work comes up in regions where the company doesn’t have an office, they hire field staff in those regions and equip them with an iPad loaded with simPRO to carry out the job.

Improved field communication with simPRO Connect
Staff in the field now have access to much more information about each job than ever before, thanks to the Connect mobile app. They can see attachments and information from the original quote, so they can have an understanding of the entire job.

Time for some Fiji
Despite being a busy end of the month, David was able to head to Fiji for some time with his family. We know all too well, though, that managers and business owners using simPRO still like to keep an eye on things no matter where they are in the world, simply because they can.
David was able to check on sales and job progress from his banana chair.
